The Buck & Rider oyster was crisp, moderately briny and even a little bit sweet. My oysters, which arrived perfectly shucked and served over ice with hot sauce, cocktail sauce and horseradish. Luckily, Buck & Rider has options ranging from mild to extra briny, making this a perfect place for “raw” beginners and experts alike. But, looking at the surrounding tables, it was clear that they were not to be passed up. So fresh, that there isn’t even a freezer on the premises.įeaturing a selection of seasonal raw oysters, such shellfish as jumbo gulf shrimp and Alaskan king crab and an assortment of sushi rolls, the raw bar was the perfect first stop on my maiden voyage.Īs much of a seafood lover as I am, I’m embarrassed to say that I had never had raw oysters before this visit. Buck & Rider has its offerings flown in every morning from around the world, and served the same day. And by fresh, I mean to say the absolute freshest seafood you can get in Phoenix. Separate from the main menu, this menu changes daily (yes, daily!) and is stamped with the day’s date to reflect the fresh selections customers can choose from. Here, seemingly endless amounts of lobster, crab and, of course, oysters are chilled over ice and ready to be shucked. Jacklyn made our experience all the more enjoyable with her knowledge of the menu items and her friendly demeanor. The food was delicious and plentiful the atmosphere was lively yet still romantic. In short, Rick and I had an absolutely fabulous evening at Buck and Rider in North Scottsdale. My husband, Rick, opted for the crusted yellowtail, which was equally enjoyable he said it melted in his mouth! We decided to pass on dessert because we usually do, but trust us when we say that everything else was so delicious that we didn’t even miss it! Overall, it was an incredible experience that will have us returning soon! For dinner, I ordered the scallops, which were cooked to perfection-the texture was smooth yet firm, and they had just enough flavor without being overpowering. The Alaskan King Crab legs were honestly the best crab legs either of us has ever had! Before diving into our individual entrees, we split a Caesar salad for the main course. Only a few minutes later were seated and served by Jacklyn, who was efficient, professional, and very kind despite how busy the restaurant was for a Tuesday night. We ordered our regular – dirty martinis with blue cheese-stuffed olives. A server was taking drink orders in the waiting area, making the wait time more than bearable. We were a few minutes early to our reservation, but Buck and Rider had it taken care of. Our experience began as soon as we arrived at the restaurant.
